Hervey Bay is fast becoming one of Australia’s most popular destinations for Australian and overseas visitors. The Fraser Coast hub unites coastal dining, a sub tropical climate, pristine safe beaches and a range of attractions and events into one celebrated, relaxed and cosmopolitan destination.

Natural bounty

On the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, Hervey Bay has approximately 60 kilometres of water frontage. The rainforest, freshwater lakes and flora and fauna of World heritage listed Fraser Island lie just offshore. The region is also well known for its fishing and diving which attract many keen anglers and diving enthusiasts.

As the Whale Watching Capital of the Australia, Hervey Bay provides a safe sheltered marine environment for the Humpback Whales every year from July to November as they return to the Antarctic. Fraser Coast’s waters are also home to turtles, dugongs and dolphins.

Action hub

The region has much to offer locals and tourists including cycling, fishing, diving, cinemas, dining out, clubs, beaches, water sports, sporting clubs and shopping centres. Local festivals such as the Whale Festival and Seafood Festival create a lively event calendar.

Popular local attractions include the Shark Show, Aquarium, the Botanical Gardens, the Urangan Pier, the Tourist Drive, art galleries, historic museum, waterslides, mini golf and driving range, quad bike tours and golden sandy beaches and, of course, Fraser Island.

The locals are friendly, the climate near to perfect, the atmosphere relaxed. Hervey Bay has all the conveniences of a modern city, yet it has still managed to retain its tranquil coastal charm.
