An Australian tourism hot spot and one of the fastest growing communities in the country, Hervey Bay affords real estate investors significant opportunities.

Tourism pushes demand

Domestic and international visitors continue to flock to the country’s whale watching capital for its stunning natural beauty and casual coastal lifestyle.

World heritage listed Fraser Island, kilometres of sandy beaches and metropolitan dining and entertainment facilities all contribute to Hervey Bay’s unique tourism offering. Following the "sea change’ trend, more and more visitors are choosing to call Hervey Bay home.

Record breaking growth

Hervey Bay experienced the highest national average annual growth rate of all major population regions between 2003 and 2008 (5.4%). In the five years to 2006, Hervey Bay had almost twice as many arrivals from elsewhere in Australia (14,000) as departures (7,000), equivalent to a net population increase of 16% since 2001. Seymour Group and Watpac have won the rights to develop the $800 million boat harbour and marina precinct. The project will incorporate 235 additional marina berths, a modern, dry storage for 200 boats, a tourist terminal, a 50 percent increase in trailer parking capacity and new facilities for Government and Marine Rescue agencies. This will be complimented by new apartment buildings that will be serviced by cafes, restaurants and shops.
